Patricia O’Leary Froetschel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia O’Leary Froetschel of Cary, North Carolina and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who left us peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 95. Born March 18, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Patricia Louise was the daughter of Vincent and Theresa O’Leary. Patricia was first married to Frank X. Richardson on June 28, 1952. Together they had four children: Jeffrey Richardson, Terri Richardson, Laurie Richardson and Vincent Richardson. After Frank’s unexpected passing, she found love again, married Joseph Froetschel on November 15, 1969 and his three children: Susan, Mark and Joyce. She cherished her beloved family and found laughter and love which they shared. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Theresa O’Leary, Her brother David O’Leary, her husbands Frank “Frannie” and Joseph “ Joe” as well as her son, Jeffrey. Patricia is survived by her children: Terri Ballengee (Tim), Laurie Mitchell, Vince Richardson (Jane). Stepchildren: Susan Olsen (Doug), Mark Froetschel (Dana), and Joyce Malley (Joe). Ten grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, Peter, Joan, Nick, Erin, David, Joseph, Liam, Maggie and also her four great grandchildren. Sister-in-law: Susan O’Leary. Patricia cherished her blended family. She lived her life with kindness, resilience and deep love for her Catholic faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Scott Township for over 50 years. She had a love for her Irish heritage and loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the West Virginia Mountaineers and Bingo! Patricia will be remembered for her strength, compassion and the love she shared with all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced in March, 2026.
