Monte Dale Clark was born on November 18, 1934, in Woodbine, Iowa to Ted and Ada (Pitt) Clark. He grew up in Logan, Iowa where he attended school until he joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country in active duty and then as a member of the reserves. On July 27, 1957, Monte was united in marriage to Joan McEvoy at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Logan. They were blessed with four children. Monte farmed part time and worked at Vicker’s Hydraulics in Omaha, Nebraska until he started farming full time when the family purchased their farm outside of Mondamin, Iowa. They also had an apple orchard there for many years. When he wasn’t busy on the farm, he worked for Agriland FS and CON-E-CO. Monte was a long-time member of the Catholic Church.

Monte had a deep love for the outdoors, which was reflected in his vast garden which included raspberry bushes and pumpkins. His green thumb was matched only by his determination and resourcefulness; he had an unparalleled ability to fix anything, often working diligently on his own equipment. Monte would spend hours cutting firewood, preparing for the winter months. He and Joan found joy in square dancing and camping. Monte’s ability to visit with anyone was unmatched, and his stories and laughter will be deeply missed by many, but especially his family which he loved.

Monte died at his home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 90 years, six months and two days.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Drummond; brothers, Ernest “Bud”, Lowell “Pete”, Eddy, Donnie and Alvin Clark. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Clark of Mondamin; children, John Clark and his wife Robann of Logan, Jim Clark of Bellevue, Nebraska, David Clark and his wife Jill of Blair, Nebraska and Diane and her husband Rod Meeker of Logan; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Karol Clark, Dee Clark, Betty Clark and Sharon Clark; and many other relatives and friends.
