Monte Lee DeVar of Crestview Florida went to his eternal Heavenly home at the age of 68 on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Monte was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Harry Lee and Alma Francis Bryant DeVar on April 24, 1956. In his early years he traveled the U.S. with his parents. He lived in California, Georgia, Tennessee and even England.
Monte was a student in Nashville at Wright Jr High, then graduated from Glencliff High School in 1975. He was a proud member of the GHS football team.
Monte continued to pursue his education at David Lipscomb College in Nashville Tennessee and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math with a minor in Fine Arts. Monte was also a founding member of the Kappa Phi social club at David Lipscomb.
Monte married the love of his life, Jonna Rewis on August 31, 1979. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Addison Blake and Andrew Jamison.
Monte worked as an Industrial Aerospace Engineer and was passionate about his career. He would proudly tell everyone about his work on various commercial and military aircraft.
Monte was a huge fan of college football. You could find him cheering on his favorite teams any given Saturday. The only thing he loved more was his family.
Monte had 7 grandchildren that he adored and spent as much time with them as possible. He was the best PopPop. He would cheer on Gage at football, hoot and holler for Thatcher at baseball, he loved the art Lilly created, he went on shopping sprees with Violet, read books and played pretend with Cora, crushed cars with monster trucks with Vander and was the best cuddle PopPop for baby Blaise.
The hole left in our hearts will remain, but the love and legacy Monte left us will be able to band aid our pain until we are all together in Heaven.
Monte was preceded in death by his uncle Gary and aunt Rose DeVar.
Monte is survived by his parents, Harry Lee and Alma Francis DeVar of Smyrna; his beautiful wife of 45 years, Jonna; two sons, Addison Blake (Whitney) of Christiana, TN and Andrew Jamison (Chelsea) of Kingston Springs, TN; grandchildren, Lilly and Gage Scott, Thatcher McGill, Violet, Cora, Vander, and Blaise DeVar; mother-in-law, Christine Sullivan; sister-in-law, Margie Wright (Terry) of Cane Ridge; nieces, Molly Cummings (Dan), Cassie Petett (Spencer); great nieces, Maggie Ann and Lucy Cate Cummings and Camilla Petett; uncle and aunt, Mike and Marge DeVar; along with a plethora of loving family and friends.

My sympathy to Jonna and Monte's entire family. Monte was one of the nicest guys in school. He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
