Monte Lewis Spencer age 62 of Rocky Mount, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Monte was born January 2, 1963 in Dequin Ark and raised in Cresent City California. He was preceded in death by his parents Ollie Spencer and Beulah Mae Bettencourt; grandparents Ollie H. Spencer and, Iva Lou Edmonsen; Manuel Bettencourt and Mabel Ridderbusch; a daughter Nina Marie Spencer Hilton Blackmon; brother John Leslie; and father-in-law Allen Carter.
Surviving are his wife Dawn Carter Spencer; sister Jewel Nelson; brother Manuel Smith; Best friend Kirk Stewart; mother-in-law Faye Carter; brother-in-law Allen Carter; sisters-in-law Korey Midkiff (Roger), Carla Carter, Marilyn Carter; Many Nieces and Nephews
Monte was a man of many talents. He played football in high school and went on to play in college as well. Monte loved hunting and fishing and even was a professional fisherman for many years. He enjoyed auctioneering and acting, where he appeared in movie once. Monte had a big heart and will be missed by all who knew him, including his church friends, fishing buddies and especially his family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel with Bishop Ryan Brittle officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, VA
