Montez Pruitt, born on August 21, 1937, in Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on September 1, 2024, following an extended illness. She was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and church, she was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, embodying the very essence of love and nurturing with a little sass. Montez loved her family without ceasing, always putting their needs before her own.

For 68 years, Montez shared her life with her loving husband, Rev. Cecil Pruitt, who was her partner and best friend. Together, they created a vibrant family tapestry, rich with memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew them. Montez's legacy continues through her children and their spouses: Pam and Rev. Jack Pilcher, Elaine and Rickey Shumate, Connie and Bill Bailey, Lisha and Greg Wallace, Kim and Brad Samples, Tim and Melissa Pruitt, and Cindy and David Martin. Each one of them carries a piece of her unwavering spirit.

Montez was also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren and their spouses: Amy and Jason Phillips, Josh and Jessica Pilcher, B.J. and Dana Bailey, Anthony and Katrina Bailey, Tyler and Jordan Wallace, Jacob and Rebecca Wallace, Chad and Amanda Trimble, Trevor Trimble, Dakota Martin, Abby and Will Glaze, Harley and Dani Pruitt, Lilly Pruitt, and Sadie Pruitt. They brought her immense joy and filled her life with laughter and love, ensuring that her legacy as a matriarch would endure for generations to come.

Her great-grandchildren – Ariel and Seth Martin, Kaden Joyner, Colby Joyner, Brittany Phillips, Allie Phillips, Alexis Phillips, Carlie Phillips, Kylee Pilcher, Emma Bailey, Peyton Bailey, Landon Hicks, Isaac Bailey, Kara Bailey, Elijah Bailey, Judah Bailey, Delta Wallace, Ezra Trimble, and Clay Trimble – served as a testament to her proudest accomplishment: her family. Montez's heart was further touched by the arrival of her great-great-grandchild, Emersyn Martin, an addition that symbolized the beautiful circle of life she cherished.

Though her family is overwhelmingly supportive, they mourn the loss of Montez’s granddaughter, Lisa Joyner, and her beloved parents, Henry Grady and Mattie Tesseeneer Mullinax.

In her spare time, Montez found joy in nature, traveling, shopping, and taking care of her family. Her hobbies were reflections of a life devoted to others, and she will be remembered for her infectious laughter and kind heart.
