Morris Glessner, 96, of Speedway and Avon, Indiana passed away peacefully of natural causes surrounded by family on June 29, 2025 in Marietta, Georgia. He was born Swayzee, IN in 1929 to Carmon and Mildred Glessner. At age six he became deaf as a result of meningitis. Morris attended the Indiana School for the Deaf where he excelled in football, and in 1951 he married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Bush. Morris worked as a skilled woodworker at Carter Lee Lumber Company for 42 years. Morris and Ruth Ann raised two girls, Sue and Patty. Each summer the family would take an amazing vacation, eventually visiting almost all 50 states. Morris and Ruth Ann were married 73 years and never letting deafness hold them back, lived an adventurous life, traveling the world after retirement—places such as Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Columbia, Costa Rica, Panama, Ireland and England. They even rode mules down the Grand Canyon! Morris is known by family and friends as an avid Colts fan and had season tickets for many years. Morris is survived by his wife Ruth Ann; daughters Sue Smith (Art) and Patty Reeser (Randy); grandchildren Lori Gregory (Matt), Jim Smith (Erin), Ryan Reeser (Carrie), Brett Reeser (Amber), Amy Yambor (Mark); and 8 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held in Indiana at a later date.
