Morris Lynn, 73, of Richland, Mo passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his children at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
He was born October 23, 1951 in Cairo, Illinois. The son of Dempsey and Laura Ann Lynn whom preceded him in death.
Morris married the love of his life Debra Lynn (Brown) on September 19, 1977 and together they experienced many adventures together including raising four children. Debra preceded him in death January 2014. The family finds peace in knowing they are re-united.
Morris dedicated his life to his country and serving and protecting others. He retired with 20 years in the United States Army in 1995. He then went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1995-2004, until he took a contracted position with KBR from 2004-2011 where he worked in Iraq and Iran. Upon his return, he went back to work for Department of Corrections until 2013 when he officially retired.
Morris loved his family. This was shown in various ways, but no better way than him stepping in and raising his Granddaughter, Trinnity, from the time she was three months old. They were two of a kind! Upon writing this Obituary we felt that the person whom knew him best is Trinnity. The following are her words:
Papa loves his Detroit Lions! He has been a "diehard" fan since 1963 and loved watching them. He also loves John Wayne and watching Jeopardy every day. He played Nane's lottery numbers every week for her, although she is no longer here. He enjoyed drinking a Pepsi and munching on Lay's potato chips- plain! We enjoyed watching any horror movie together, even if we had seen it numerous times. He enjoyed his daily call from his daughter, Tammy and spending each holiday at "The Farm" at his daughter's Tina's house. He watched the nightly news and would never go to bed without saying, "I Love You" as he said tomorrow is never promised. A core memory of Papa is waking up each morning and sitting with him so he could talk about his military stories somehow Nane always got brought up. We also loved cooking Spaghetti together.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Larry, Terry, and Don, and his Son Timothy. Morris is survived by his Son, Mark Lynn (Tara) of Florida; daughters Tina Arnold (Jerry) of Richland MO and Tammy Newburn of Springfield, MO. Morris was proud of all his Grandchildren: Nick (Molly), Mattie (Devon), Wayne (Elizabeth), Desiree (Charles), Deandra, TJ, Taylor, Tyler, Trinnity, Laura and Great Grandchildren: Krew, McKenna, Brinley, Bryan, Nova, Naomi, Nehki, Rylan Jr., Beckham, Beau, and a Great
Granddaughter expected in September.
Morris had a conversation with his daughters and requested no formal service. He requested his family gather together and truly celebrate his life at "The Farm" at a future date. His final remains will join his son and wife in his son's favorite "fishing hole" with a private service for family.
