It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of M. Windell Sowers, Jr. of Taneytown Maryland, on May 31,2025, at the age of 79. He was born in Roanoke Va. on July 25, 1945. He will be lovingly remembered, missed and loved forever by his wife of 32 years, Arnita Sowers. His children, Jeff Sowers and wife Lisa, Barry Sowers and wife Amy, Cory Sowers and wife Andrea and stepdaughter, Kelly Colbert–Daughtrey and husband Keith, his sister, Julie Caprarola and husband Joseph, sister, Marcy Hook. His ten grandchildren, Ashley, Brian, Greyson, Madison, Emily, Brogan, Coco, Shashele , Justis Sowers and Nicholas Daughtrey and his three great grandchildren, Olivia, Keegan, and Wesley.
He was predeceased by his brothers Davie and Mark Sowers, his stepson, Jeffrey C. Colbert and grandson Tyler Daughtrey and his parents, Morton and Dorothy Sowers.
His most valued treasure above all was his family. Windell touched so many lives, and he was such a wonderful, loving man. There was no end to his love when it came to his family. He served in the US Navy, which included two tours to Vietnam during the Vietnam war. After serving his country, he worked as an electrician for Star electric for 30+ years. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He loved being out in nature. When he could no longer hunt or fish, he enjoyed putting puzzles together and sitting on his deck, drinking coffee.
He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 120 and a member of the VFW Post 6918 in Harney.
A Memorial held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11 am at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Maryland.
