Mother Mary Ellen Foster-Johnson (Granny) was born to the Late Mary Lee Russell in Centerville, Tennessee. She departed this life on June 1, 2023. Mary received her education at Bernard High in Centerville and Nursing Tech School at St Thomas Hospital. She later became employed by Baptist Hospital till 1996.
She professed her faith in Christ at St. Matthews Methodist Church and later moved her membership to Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church where she served as usher, church secretary, financial clerk, and mother board. After the Elder Brown crossed over, mother Johnson fellowshipped with several churches before the pandemic.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Mary L. Russell, grandmother Ellen Brown, sisters Blanche Foster Gains, Norma Evans, and brother Richard Alfred Foster.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter Ms. Janice Johnson (Antoine), foster daughter April Williams, and foster son Brown (Baptist Hospital); grandchildren: Isis Hawk, Jasmine Johnson, Antoine Hawk Jr.; foster grandchild: Laquinta Hogan; loving sisters Marion Gordon and Lisa Hayes; Sister in-law: Shirley Foster; Nieces Ophelia (Verdell) Williams, LaTonya (Robert) Davenport, Kennettha (Jay) Valentine, Tara (Henry) Monger, Cherica (Dwight) Ford; Devoted cousin Lorene Tucker; Devoted Friends Lula Robinson, Billie Sue (George) Hayes.
