Charles (Charlie) Edward Lindsay was born, March 19, 1941, to the late Henry Louis and Nonie Mae Lindsay in Nashville, TN. He departed this life on October 14, 2025, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his brother Henry (Sonny)Eugene Louis Lindsay Jr. and sister Margurite Jewel Moore. Charles accepted Christ at an early age at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. He was educated in the Davidson County School System, graduating from Pearl High School in 1958.
He was enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 as an Optical Lab Specialist (E4) where he served for several years until his honorable discharge in 1965. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He married Marilyn Janet Brown in August of 1961. To this union, two daughters were born: Tonya Yvette Jones and Charlotte Renee Denkins. After serving in the Army, "Charlie" worked for the Murfreesboro Veterans Hospital, Home Health Care, and as a Brick Layer Assistant. Through immense courage and determination, he embraced alcoholism's recovery and spent the latter part of his life inspiring others. His journey was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and God’s grace. He was a proud member of the AAA program for over 20 years and faithfully volunteered his time to the association regularly.
Before Charles' health failed he enjoyed polishing and cleaning his red Jeep, which he loved dearly, watching Channel 4 and sports, and making daily runs to West Nashville locations (Kroger and Dollar Store) where the employees enjoyed small chats and his smile. One of his fondest memories was Skydiving.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his two loving daughters Tonya Jones and Charlotte Dinkins: grandchildren, Tyrhondo "Tee" (Stephanie) Thompson, Zuri Walker, Ian Denkins, Justin Jones, Jade Jones, Logan Gaskin, and Carmen Gaskin, great-grandchildren; Tyrondo "Trey" Thompson, Tyla Jaye, Pierce Williams, Maddox Williams, Eric Jones, and Greyson Jones, two devoted sisters; Dorothy (Thomas Jr.) Lipscomb, Delphia Mae Lindsay; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and lifetime devoted friends Jim Karafa and Kirk Johnson.
