Mr. Kenneth Dale Chitwood, age 74, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Mr. Chitwood retired from a distinguished career with Georgia Power as an engineer with over forty years of dedicated service. Ken was very athletic; he enjoyed scuba diving and snorkeling in the Caribbean along with snow skiing in Colorado and Utah. Ken’s favorite pastime was watching football.

Mr. Chitwood was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Frank Chitwood and Jennie Sue Dooley Chitwood; and sister, Linda Chitwood Savage.

He is survived by his son, Brian Chitwood; nieces and nephews, Angela (Billy) Iler of Auburn, Lesley Huckeba of Danielsville, and James (Susan) Culpepper of Jefferson; great-nieces and nephews, Breana (Ryan) Bedwell of Bogart, Summer (T.J) Perine of Statham, Autumn (Wesley) Rainey of Commerce, Noah Iler of Auburn, Jacob Huckeba of Atlanta, Abby (Joshua) Cates of Jefferson, Katy (Austin) St. Pierre of Jefferson, Emma Culpepper of Jefferson and Luke Culpepper of Jefferson.

Per the request of Mr. Chitwood, a private service will be held at a later date.

Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
