Tony W. Lanham passed from this life at his home in Columbus, Indiana, on August 5, 2025. Born on March 24, 1950, in the same town he would love and live in all his life, Tony was the son of the late William T. and Edith Burris Lanham.

Tony's journey began as a proud graduate of Columbus High School in 1968, where he was an active member of the basketball team. On Valentine's Day 1975, he married the love of his life, Sandra Capper Sitzes, who survives him. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, support, and mutual respect.

Tony retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2003 after 32 years of service, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic and for more than 25 years, Tony served on the board of directors at Ceraland Park.

A member of East Columbus Christian Church, Tony's interests were many and varied. An avid sports fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Indiana University teams and the Cincinnati Reds. Tony found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was playing a round of golf, casting a line into the water while fishing, or enjoying the quiet of the woods during a hunt.

Above all, Tony was a family man. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children, Jami (Scott) Freeman of Columbus and Jason (Lisa) Sitzes of Cedar Park, Texas; his grandchildren, Conner and Carli Freeman and Kelsey, Aubrey, and Jack Pirc; and his great-granddaughter, Arden. The time he spent with them was his most precious commodity, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 9th at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Virgil Clotfelter will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time. Tony will be laid to rest at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
