Munir Loyan Morris, a bright, charismatic, and ambitious young man, was born on December 26, 2006, in Alexandria, Virginia, and left this world far too soon on September 3, 2025, as a passenger in a tragic car accident. He was cherished by all who knew him and will be remembered for his remarkable spirit, infectious humor, and unwavering faith.

Loyan was an Honors student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he was pursuing a bachelor's degree in aviation science. Before college, he was home-schooled, which gave him the freedom to grow at his own pace and deeply explore his passions, especially his love for aviation and the Bible. This foundation nurtured not only his intellect but also his character, fostering a deep devotion to Jesus. His commitment to get baptism at age 12 marked his commitment to a life of service and faith, guided by one of his favorite verses, Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

At just 18 years old, Loyan was the youngest of five children and would jokingly say to other people that his parents had saved the best for last. His personality radiated joy, kindness, and generosity, qualities that endeared him to many. Beyond academics, Loyan was a gifted athlete and musician. He excelled at hockey as a goalie, helping his team win the CCHL Championship in 2019, and also enjoyed soccer, tennis, chess, piano, drums, and video games. He dedicated his time to his family, friends, the church community, volunteering, and sharing his talents with humility and warmth.

From a young age, Loyan was captivated by the skies. The roar of airplanes sparked a dream that only grew stronger over time. At 16, he began flying lessons, steadily working toward his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. He aspired to fly for American Airlines and one day be a captain of a Boeing 777X. Loyan dreamed big than life, and with determination and faith, he actively pursued those dreams.

Though his time with us was extremely brief, Loyan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration. He has now earned his wings with the highest honor and distinction and is soaring sky high in heaven with Jesus by his side. His life reminds us to embrace our dreams, walk in faith, and serve others with grace, dignity, and joy.

Loyan’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his parents, Dale Wayne Morris, Jr., and Kaha Fatah Morris, his siblings, Iftin Thompson, Munira Morris, ShaDonna Briggs (Leon), Dale W. Morris III, grandparents, uncles and aunts, a host of other extended family, and friends that became like family, and all who were blessed to know him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we hold close the cherished memories of this extraordinary young man whose presence, though short, made an everlasting impact on the earth.
