Murdock Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farmer & Dee Funeral Home on Oct. 8, 2024.
Murdock W. Smith (Smitty)
Dec 28, 1931 - Oct 4, 2024
Murdock passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.
Murdock was an amazing father, grandfather, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor to all who knew him. He leaves behind two daughters: Faith (Nuno) – grandchildren Alec, Andrew, Adam and Alizabeth of Tewksbury, MA and Heather (Sharad) – grandchildren Tara, Rohan, and Kieran of San Ramon, CA
Sister Annabel (Wentworth) of Strathlorne, Cape Breton and Brother Isaac, of Mabou, Cape Breton along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Murdock is predeceased by his loving wife Mary, son Myron, and baby daughter Dawn.
Murdock (Smitty) lived in Tewksbury with his daughter Faith and the family after the loss of his beloved wife Mary in 2010.
He was a resident of Medford since 1962, when he and Mary moved here from Cape Breton, NS to begin their lives and raise a family.
Our friends and neighbors of Quincy Road, Kingston Road and beyond quickly became "Smitty's" friends and neighbors. He enjoyed many conversations through these years, with "folks" walking or driving by - often stopping in with their dogs for a little chat and some laughs. We would hear his many friends driving by giving dad a little "hit of the horn" and wave as he sat on his swing out front - and then in recent years, the walkway or driveway in his wheelchair.
We will forever be grateful for the outpouring of love, these last few weeks by our amazing friends near and far.
Burial will be private at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA and attended by family.

Faith and family-I am so sorry to learn about this. When we saw you today on the street we had a feeling. It is such a loss! It was wonderful having your dad outside each day and getting a friendly wave as we passed. I hope your memories of happy times help at this sad time. The neighborhood will always be less bright without him.
