Muriel Troy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holden Cremation & Funeral Service - Sparta on Feb. 11, 2026.
Muriel Ann Troy, 90, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 12, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska, Muriel lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, family, and simple joys. On November 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, SSG Billie Lee Troy Sr., and together they built a large and loving family of seven children.

Muriel found happiness in life's quiet pleasures. She was an avid reader who could often be found lost in a good book. A devoted fan of Murder, She Wrote, she never tired of following along as Jessica Fletcher solved yet another mystery. In her later years, she embraced technology with enthusiasm, spending many happy hours playing games on her computer.

Above all else, Muriel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose legacy of love will live on through the many lives she touched.

Muriel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, SSG Billie Lee Troy Sr.; and four of her cherished children: Audrey Clifford Troy, Patti Ann Hicks, Billie Lee Troy Jr. and Terrie Lee Troy.

She is survived by three children: Linda Lee Alger (John), Kathi Jo Lynn, and Suanne Lynn Jackson (Rick); along with 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and a son in law Harold D. Hicks, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

Following cremation, Muriel will be laid to rest with her husband at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri at a future date to be determined.
