Obituary of Mutsu O Morrow
Mutsu was born in Japan on the island of Hokkaido in the city of Hakodate on March 4th, 1926. She completed nursing school in Sapporo, where she also met her future husband, George Morrow. Mutsu and George began their family together before moving to the United States. After traveling the world, they settled and continued to grow their family in Tacoma, Washington. Mutsu went on to work as a nurse at St Joseph Hospital and specialized in midwifery. During her career at St. Joseph's, she helped bring the joy of children into the world for many families.
Mutsu had an insurmountable energy that occupied her entire life. After retiring from midwifery, she went back to school and graduated from fashion design and industrial sewing. She had a natural talent for creating beauty from ordinary materials. Her original works in origami, painting, embroidery, and clothing still survive her in the care of her children and grandchildren. Mutsu also was a regular fixture of elegance and grace in ballroom dancing circles where her motions echoed the beauty of her other artistic endeavors. Mutsu was a member of the Japanese American League, Tanpopo-No-Kai, and the ELKS.
Mutsu lost the love of her life George in 1978 and never remarried. Mutsu leaves behind 6 children Evelyn Smith AK, Richard Morrow WA, Donald Morrow WA, Linda Boyd WA, George Morrow Jr WA, Susan Mullins WA, and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mutsu passed peacefully on May 1st, 2022, and will rejoin George eternally at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. May she rest with our enduring love and gratitude for everything her life contributed to ours. She was our special cherry blossom.
