Myra Barnwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Home of Bradford on Feb. 28, 2026.
Myra Lee Barnwell, of Bradford, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

She was born in Bradford, Arkansas on April 21, 1936, to Clyde and Clara (Sanford) Cooper. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Bradford, Myra's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved her large family deeply and devoted herself to caring for them, always wanting to make sure her loved ones were guided by faith and on the path to heaven. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy and love for her family will live on forever.

Myra found great joy in gardening and was well known for raising abundant vegetables each year. Her home was a place of warmth and gathering, often filled with 40 or more family members enjoying her cooking, laughter, and fellowship. Visiting with others brought her true happiness, and she never met a stranger.

She was a mother who instilled in her children a strong work ethic, respect for others, and a deep appreciation for life-from the oldest to the youngest generations. Myra was also a gifted seamstress, lovingly making clothes for her children and even outfits for their dolls. She later used her remarkable talent to create her children's wedding dresses, carefully crafting them from nothing more than a picture.

A woman of strength, warmth, and quiet grace, Myra will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Garland Barnwell; her parents; siblings, Roy Cooper, Farrel Cooper and the twins, Lauren and Marlyn.

Myra leaves behind a loving family including her children, Karen Morton (Joe), Vickie Clem (Dennis), Beverly Reeves (Dwight) and Doyle Barnwell, all of Bradford, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Chasity Andrews (Scotty), Leann Mobley (Jeremy), Joseph Morton (Amanda), Waylon Reeves (Melanie), Winter Yielding (Chris); great grandchildren, Cody and Hunter Andrews, Lauren Mobley Evans (Owen), Kayla Mobley, Adison, Skyler and Miles Morton, Conley, Brody and Landrum Reeves, Abigail, Audrey and Lucas Yielding; siblings, Dean Cooper (LaVonne), Marlene Busbea, Wilma McDougal (J.F.); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, generous heart, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at Powell Funeral Home of Bradford on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Hill Cemetery in Bradford, Arkansas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Bradford.
