Myra Belcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCaleb Funeral Home on Jan. 6, 2023.
Myra Belcher, born in Mercedes, TX on August 10, 1961 to Utah and Thelma Dickerson, went home to be with the Saviour she loved on April 21, 2018. Although her death was a sudden tragedy to her family and friends, she lived a life in anticipation of meeting Jesus. All who knew and loved Myra knew that she loved Jesus relentlessly. Everything she did, she did for Him. Throughout her life, Myra faced many obstacles: from struggling with children born with serious medical issues, to fighting her own battle with cancer. Myra clung to the goodness and faithfulness of God and experienced His victory. Her sole aim in life was to know Christ and make Him known by diligently sending scripture and words of encouragement not only to her own children, but also to anyone God placed on her heart. She was known as a prayer warrior, stopping to pray with anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Whether selflessly serving her family and neighbors, or decorating the church or her home for a festive celebration, Myra was known for her gracious hospitality. Myra loved Jesus, she loved others sincerely, and she lived her life for His glory. She was confident that, "He who began the good work in her would carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Myra met Tim during her sophomore year in college at Texas State University. They fell in love and were married on June 12th, 1982 at the First Baptist Church in Weslaco. They enjoyed six years together before they were blessed with their first child. They raised eight children together, with God at the center of their marriage and family, spending most Sunday's at that same First Baptist Church in Weslaco for the next 36 years, volunteering, teaching Bible Study, and mentoring many in the congregation. She is survived by her husband, Tim Belcher, sons Landon, Madison, Holden, Hudson, and Walker Belcher; daughters Sydney, Mackenzie, and Madeline Belcher; parents Utah and Thelma Dickerson; brother Barry Dickerson and wife Linda, sisters Belinda Turner and Andrea Jalufka and husband David along with 10 nieces and nephews and 30 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister Nita Kay Brown. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Myra Belcher Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church in Weslaco. The money will be dispersed to charities that were close to Myra's heart. Myra Belcher Memorial Fund https://onrealm.org/firstbaptistweslaco/Give/EWQFBVWARP
