Myra Daniels Thompson

Myra D. Thompson, 78 of Wanchese, was born to the late Llewellyn Cudworth Daniels and Vara Midgett Daniels, the youngest of their children. She was the first baby delivered by Dr. Wright, on January 19, 1947, in the front bedroom of the family home. That bedroom would become her sanctuary throughout her life, later serving as her sewing room. It was there where she drew her last breath and stepped into glory on July 23, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Llewellyn "Little Lew" Midgett (Joy), Llewellyn "Sonny Boy" Daniels, Jr. (Ede), Jimmy Tucker Daniels (Merle), Joan Biggs (Tommy), Dixie Walker Daniels (Ruth), Bebe Tillet (Orville), Robert "Bobby" Luther Daniels (Valerie).

Her legacy continues with her husband of 52 years Keith Thompson; three children, Jeff Thompson (Rachel), Greg Thompson (Susan), Elizabeth Wells (Jeff), and her precious grandchildren: Bonnie Bleu Thompson, Nicole Thompson, Halen Wells, and Dolly Wells.

Myra accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during her senior year at Manteo High School. Her academic life continued for three years at Southeastern Bible College in Florida. She then dedicated her life to serving as a counselor at the Women's Teen Challenge in Philadelphia, where she met and married the love of her life, Keith Collin Thompson.

After her mother's passing, she returned to Wanchese to care for her father, and the family home became her haven. Following many years as a devoted homemaker and mother, she later worked at Johnson Construction for ten years. In her later years, she found joy in dog sitting and sewing endeavors.

Some women love diamonds, but Myra preferred embroidery machines and walls lined with colorful threads. As "Mom Mom," she wrapped each of her grandkids in a quilt made with love from her sewing room. She lived a Holy Spirit-filled life, lifting others in prayer, praising through trials, and standing firm as a faithful prayer warrior. She fought the good fight…and she won!

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Wanchese Assembly of God, and a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Kenny Midgett officiating. A private burial will take place at Cudworth Cemetery
