Myrna L. Masuga, 85, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
On July 25, 1939, she was born in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late William J. Carne and Joyce (Greig) Carne Holmes. Myrna attended and graduated from the Iron River Schools, with the Class of 1957, and remained a lifelong resident of the area.
She was employed as a teacher's aide and school secretary at the West Iron County School System for 17 years, retiring in 2000. Prior to working at the school, Myrna worked at J.C. Penny's, Bay Cliff Adult Camp as a cook, and at the West Iron County Credit Union. She was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. Myrna enjoyed life, gardening, cooking, watching birds, and being outdoors. She treasured spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always put others before herself. Myrna's "love language" was baking everyone their special and delicious treats and they definitely enjoyed them. She wholeheartedly loved Jesus. Her faith helped climb the mountains she faced and gave her great joy in the good times. She will be missed immensely by all who loved her. She certainly was a very special lady.
Myrna is survived by her son, Cory (Valerie) Masuga of Cedarville, MI; daughters, Paula (Michael) Maloney of Ontonagon, MI and Julie (Rodney) Shaw of Negaunee, MI; brother, William (Ann) Carne of Republic, MI; stepbrother, Dr. Robert Anderson; stepsister, Carole (Alan) Kinner of Kenton, MI; eight grandchildren, Jordy (Whitney) Maloney, Matthew Shaw, Carly (Tim) Fox, Elizabeth Shaw, Kirsty (Bob) Miller, Brett Masuga, Jarron Masuga, and Tristan Masuga; great-grandchildren, Taylee, Tyler, Teagan, and Tucker Fox, Brynlee Shaw, and Charlotte, Nolan, and Ryder Maloney; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Lee Carne and stepmother, Mary Carne.
Private family services will be held.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
