Dr. Myron Joseph Zeller, a loving husband, devoted physician, and cherished Papa, joined his Heavenly Father on October 30, 2024. He was 86 years old.
Born on June 25, 1938, in Paxico, Kansas, Myron was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, where he graduated from Maur Hill High School. He went on to pursue higher education at St. Benedict College, Kansas State University, and graduated from Rockhurst College in 1960. His passion for medicine led him to the University of Kansas, where he earned his medical degree in 1964.
Dr. Zeller served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, joining as a Captain in 1965. He began his residency in Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base and later obtained a Master's in Preventive Medicine from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Zeller also proudly served in Vietnam. Rising through the ranks, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel at Nellis Air Force Base in 1971. After several promotions that took him further from patient care, he made the decision to leave the Air Force to focus on his passion for treating patients.
Board certified in Aerospace Medicine and Occupational Medicine, Dr. Zeller began his practice in Occupational Medicine in Garden City, Kansas, in 1974. He continued his work with Garden Medical Specialists until 1996, when he opened his own practice, Medical Associates. He served several communities until his retirement in 2016.
Dr. Zeller is survived by his beloved wife, Pris, whom he married on September 29, 1989, at which time he gained two stepsons, Ryan Wenrich and Eric Wenrich (Michelle). He is remembered as a loving father to his three children: Ann Marie Johnson (Tracy), Barbie Ann Holsapple (Jim), and Daniel William Zeller, who sadly passed away on October 25, 2013. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
Dr. Zeller was known for his generous spirit, steadfast faith in the Lord our God, and commitment to a no-nonsense approach to the practice of medicine. He was a strong-willed man who stood by his convictions while also having a heart that was generous beyond expectation. His legacy will no doubt live on through the lives he touched.
A memorial service celebrating Dr. Zeller will be held, Wednesday, November 6th at 11:00am at Mother Teresa Catholic Church, 2014 NW 46th Street, Topeka, Kansas. Dr. Zeller and his wife have shown a heart for the hungry, and they request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Harvesters – The Community Food Network, mailed in care of Midwest Cremation, 525 SE 37th Street, Topeka, KS 66605.
Blessed be the Father, Blessed be the Son, Blessed be the Holy Ghost.
