F. Myrt Broach, age 95, of Monroe, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 in Athens, Georgia. She was born on September 9, 1929 in Jackson, Georgia, the youngest of six children born to the late Braxton Bragg and Georgia Mae (Maddox) Vaughn. Myrt graduated from Jackson High School in 1946, where she was a standout basketball player and part of the team that won a state championship. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta where she worked for the Insurance Company of North America (INA). She later worked at Oxford Industries in Monroe until her retirement. Myrt married James Howell Broach in 1953. Together they raised one daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Broach Hunt. Myrt was the proud grandmother of Rachel Hunt and Amanda Nolan and the even prouder great-grandmother of Anderson and James Nolan. Myrt was a faithful and long time member of the United Methodist Church and at the time of her death was a member of Dacula United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching sports particularly the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and college basketball. She also enjoyed cooking and vegetable gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years James Howell Broach, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Broach Hunt and son-in-law Byron Hunt; granddaughters Rachel Hunt and Amanda Nolan (Ryan) and great-grandchildren Anderson and James Nolan and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8 at 2:00 PM at Westlawn Cemetery, 1900 Highway 11, N, Monroe, Georgia, 30656. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Dacula United Methodist Church, 2655 Fence Road, Dacula, Georgia, 30019 in Myrt's memory.
