Myrtle Ellen Grimmett, 89, of Judson peacefully went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 16, 2025.

Born January 3, 1936 in Coal City she was a daughter of the late Truby and Violet Woods Lusk.

Myrtle became a member of Elk Knob Missionary Baptist Church in 1965, over the years she served as an adult Sunday school teacher, prayer meeting teacher, clerk and piano player. She was also a farmer, raising cattle, producing milk, making butter and cottage cheese. Myrtle was a very talented crafter who excelled at crocheting and was an excellent cook. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Owen G. Grimmett; son, Jerry Wayne Grimmett; siblings, Maple Grimmett, Reva McCann, Diana Weikle and Freeman Lusk.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Douglas O. Grimmett and wife Melanie; one granddaughter, Heather Graham; one sister, Linda Foster and husband Jerry and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Speaking of death, Myrtle would say, “I have done what you have yet to do” and her fervent prayer would be that all men, women, boys and girls would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Elk Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors John Boothe and Andy Howdock officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until time of services on Thursday at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Mercer Healthcare Center for all the love and care provided to Myrtle during her stay.
