LORD HELP ME
Mom was born Myrtle Elizabeth Moore, February 10, 1927, in Jacksonville, Fl. Mom's parents were Mildred Helen Daemon and Leon Abner (Cramp) Moore. Cramp was a dairy farmer. Myrtle was raised on the dairy farm. The farm grew to around 800 cows, Holsteins in later years, which were milked twice daily, seven days a week.
Mom's brother Bobby met James Hollingworth at the Harley Davidson dealership in Jacksonville, Florida. Both were in the Navy. Uncle Bobby became a motorcycle enthusiast, and it was not too long before James was invited to the dairy farm where he met Mom, Myrtle Elizabeth. James and Myrtle were married on August 23, 1942.
Mom always wanted a big family. The Good Lord blessed her with a daughter, Helen, and five young boys, Al, Don, Dick, Dennis, and Jerry.
Myrtle along with her husband managed the Harley Davidson of St. Augustine shop for the best part of 62 years. She sold the dealership in 2007.
The Harley Shop was a fun way to make a living, but the dairy farm always provided a fun weekend escape. When visiting the farm, nephews, nieces and cousins had a wonderful time swimming in the deep-water pond, playing volleyball and having races both around the pond and in the pond. It was also fun riding the bulls (small calves), playing in the hay loft, taking tractor rides, and eating raw peanuts out of the peanut hay. Watermelon could be found planted near the tractor shed. On many hot summer days a few watermelons were iced down to be savored during the heat of the day. But Myrtle was also a serious volunteer during these times. Myrtle was active in prison ministries and purchased two residential properties which serve as the Women's Refuge of St. Johns County.
Myrtle's ventriloquist act, with her friend Katie, was featured in the 1980's, as part of the St. Johns County Community Health Fair. In 2014 Myrtle volunteered as a facilitator for St. Johns County Council on Aging Memory enhancement Workshops. God didn't play a part of Mom's life; God was Mom's life. When Myrtle was in her 50's she took nonresident Bible courses at Liberty College in Lynchburg, VA. She obtained a Divinity degree and became ordained. Mom was particularly concerned as to where people were going. Basically, we know who we are. And thanks to Mom, we know where we're going.
Many of the AHRMA, American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association, road racing events included non-denominational church services. Shame on the volunteer preacher who made the mistake of asking the small congregation, which included Mom, to share their witness with those attending. Mom generally took over from there. On one occasion at Barber racetrack in Birmingham, Ala., brother Richard had to excuse himself from Mom's extended service because his race class had been called to the start line.
Myrtle was predeceased by: Husband, James A. Hollingsworth, Daughter: Helen Hollingsworth2 brothers: Brig. Gen. Leon A. Moore and Bobby Moore, 1 sister, Mildred Baggerly, Parents: Mildred Helen Daemon & Leon Abner (Cramp) Moore
Myrtle was Survived by 5 sons: Jerry (Jeannie), Dennis (Jan), Richard "Dick" (Karen) Don (Nancy), & Albert (Cindy), 9 Grandchildren: Jeri, Colby, Shelby, David, Kristie, Holly, Donald, Jeremy & Helen, 8 Great-Grandchildren: Chase, Jonathan, Ryker, Kaelin, Kendall, Danae, Eoin, Noah, Sophia
Services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Ancient City Baptist Church, 27 Sevilla Dr. St. Augustine, Fl. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM - 10:00AM, with Service to follow at 10:00AM. A gathering of fellowship & reminiscence will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church. The burial will be held at Pellicer Creek Cemetery at 1:00PM
In lieu of flowers you can donate to the Women's Refuge of St. John County, PO Box 1430, St. Augustine, Fl, 32085.

Aunt Myrtle always greeted us cheerfully and with open arms when we visited from Vt or NY. My favorite food she introduced me to was grits! Good southern grits!
Aunt Myrtle dressed impeccably and was such a beautiful person.
We had great adventures with trips to the hunting camp and the Plantation, she made sure there were snacks and our comfort was her top priority.
A few months ago I had a lovely conversation with her and she sounded as sweet as ever. Regardless of distance, I feel as though we connected on a level deeper than family. I love you Aunt Myrtle.
I also, wish to extend my sincerest condolences to my cousins- Al, Dick, Don, Jerry and Dennis.
With love, Judy (Harper) Salviolo

I remember the days when Don, Dick and I were working at FSDB. She would come by for a short visit. Our conversation would always be about Family and Jesus. All of her sons and families are wonderful examples of what made Saint Augustine a great community. I know she will proudly wear her CROWNS OF GLORY and WALK THE STREETS OF GOLD. It is my Prayer that people CELEBRATE the life that Miss Myrtle shared with everyone she came in contact with. AJ Willis

We bought both of our Harley´s from Ms. Myrtle. Over the years we forged a special friendship with this special lady and her family. We have lots of memories of great times during that chapter of our life and Ms. Myrtle was a big part of them. RIP dear lady. Kim & Joe DaCosta

I remember visiting Aunt Myrtle and Uncle James only once or twice as a youngster, but I vividly recall their hospitality. I enjoyed seeing the Harley shop, their feeding us a delicious meal of grilled steak and ranch-style bread, meeting many of our Florida cousins for the first time. They took us to the St. James River and a plantation or what may have been the farm. I'm not sure which, but I distinctly remember beautiful countryside with huge old live oaks covered with lots of Spanish moss, so very different from anything I had seen living in the North.

Through the years, my Mom (James' sister) & Dad would visit and share special stories of their time with Myrtle & James and the family. Dennis has kept in touch and we share a love of the Lord and our families that was modeled by our parents.

Our condolences and prayer for the family, with love, Cousin Susan (& Bill) Church
