Myrtle R. Witchley, age 76, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2025, after a brief illness.

Myrtle was born in Rome on March 9, 1949 to the late Ernest and Vivian Beck Megerell, and educated in the Rome schools. On October 10, 1991, she was united in marriage to James "Jim" Witchley; a blessed union of over 26 years until his passing on March 20, 2018. Myrtle worked at Omega Wire for several years.

Myrtle enjoyed cooking and baking and often made the family cakes. She was a member of the Christian Women's group.

Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Tammy (David) Seaton, and Heather (Josef) Holley; her sons, Joseph Waterman, David (Patty) Waterman, and Matthew Waterman; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her sister, Donna Reed; her former husband, Bill Waterman; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Charleen Baker, Marilyn Baker, and Tina Reed; and her brothers, Clyde and Joseph "Joe" Megerell.

Myrtle's funeral will be held on Friday, December 12, at 6 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery in the spring.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
