Myrtle Lucille Blalock Witteman

Myrtle Lucille Blalock Witteman, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. Born on March 21, 1941, Myrtle lived a life defined by deep devotion and a spirit that loved fiercely.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vance Sr. and Edna Blalock; her brother, Wilson Moore Blalock; her sisters, Edith Green, JoAnn Reed, Barbara Burchers, Nadine Hooton, and Marie Blalock; and her nieces, Tanya Diane Blalock, Janis Gail Rodriguez and Cheryl Lucille Blalock.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 50 years, William Witteman Jr.; her daughter, Melody Witteman (Oscar Mendoza); and her son, Michael Witteman. She leaves behind her two grandchildren, Noah Mendoza and Ryanna Witteman, whom she adored and loved with all her heart. She is also survived by her brother, Vance Blalock Jr. (Burlene), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who became family over the years.

After graduating from Jourdanton High School, Myrtle went on to a dedicated career, and eventually retired from Southwestern Bell. While she took great pride in her professional life, her true masterpiece was her family. She was a woman of many passions, finding joy in cooking for loved ones and expressing her creativity through beautiful oil paintings on canvas.

Private family burial services will be held to honor her at the Christine City Cemetery.

A celebration of Myrtle's life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, which would have been her 85th birthday. Beginning at 2 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church Hall in Christine, Texas. Food and drinks will be served as we enjoy a special gallery display of Myrtle's paintings. Please join us to share the memories of a woman who was fiercely loved and will be deeply missed.
