Mysore N. Shivaram, M.D. (March 8, 1940 - November 3, 2023)
Mysore Shivaram passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2023. He was born in Bangalore, India on March 8, 1940 to Dr. M.S. Narayana Rao and Nagarathnamma. He was the oldest of three children followed by his sisters, Anasuya and Usha. He graduated from Central College, Bangalore in 1960 and attended medical school at Bangalore Medical College, graduating in 1965. He married Prema Anantaram in 1965. He then completed an internship at Bowring Hospital in 1966.
Furthering his studies, they both came to America in 1967 so that he could begin an internship in 1967 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. There, he finished his residency in internal medicine and was Chief Resident in 1971. He continued at Cook County Hospital as an attending physician until 1983. Choosing private practice in the Western Suburbs, he then was on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital and Hinsdale Hospital. The family moved to Hinsdale in 1976 where his three children, Sunil, Anil, and Anju, grew up. Along the way, he received further training and board certification in Addiction Medicine. His unwavering and selfless devotion was always to his family, friends, and patients. He touched many lives along the way. His beloved Loretto Hospital, where he was President of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Medical Director of the Addiction Program, along with his office practice in Berwyn played a big part in his love of patient care.
His equal treatment, love, and respect for all people regardless of background or status were among his many special traits. He was simple, hard-working, and always happy to share in other people's happiness. He is survived by his wife, children, daughters-in-law, Amisha and Lisa, son-in-law, Dhananjay, and grandchildren, Ishan, Anya, Annika, Finley, Rohan, and Rajan.

Dr. Shivaram was a kind man, always smiling, and he truly cared about everyone, patients, staff, and his fellow colleagues. I worked with him at Loretto Hospital for many years and never saw him unhappy or never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. He always made sure he gave his very best to his patients. The one and only time I saw him sad was when we were sitting in the Doctors´ Lounge on September 11, 2001 when the first news of the Twin Towers attacks came on TV, his face crumpled with sadness and shock. Other than that horrific time, Dr. Shivaram was his usual happy self. Rest in Eternal Peace my friend. Life well lived, Job well done!
