Holland: Nadine Charlotte Casey, 69, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22nd, in her home after she bravely fought a yearlong battle with Leukemia. She was thankful for her village, all the people who gave her the love, prayers and support she needed.

Nadine was born in Rochester, NY and raised in Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by her parents Francis J. Casey, Sr., Carmen (Trahan) Casey and Suzanne (Lamarine) Casey and her brother, Francis J. Casey, Jr.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Suzanne Casey-Gee and her husband, Robert Casey-Gee of Cork, Ireland; her sister, Colleen Casey of Holland; her two brothers, David Casey and his wife Bridgid of Williamstown, MA and John Casey and his wife Gina of Dudley, MA; as well as 8 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews. As part of a large family, she leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Trahan and Lamarine families as well as amazing friends and colleagues; all of whom she loved with all her heart!

Nadine was proud of her extensive nursing career. She was a graduate of Holy Name Elementary School, Holy Name Central Catholic High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, all in Worcester. She began her nursing career at Notre Dame Heath Care in Worcester and Harrington Hospital in Southbridge. She worked for years with the Little Sisters of the Assumption at Pernet Family Health Services in Worcester as a home health care nurse. She went on to begin her school nurse career at Gates Lane School in Worcester. Nadine served as the President of the School Nursing Union in Worcester, working to ensure that school nursing was given the credit it was due, as well as having a nurse in every school. She continued school nursing at West Street School in Southbridge.

Nadine never worked just one job and always put others first. She was the volunteer school nurse at Trinity Catholic Academy in Southbridge. Over the years she worked at AdCare Hospital in Worcester with substance abuse patients and as a psychiatric nurse at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge. She finally completed her career as a Clinical Coordinator at Harrington Hospital. She loved all aspects of nursing and gave her all to whichever position she was in!

Nadine loved to travel, but had a special place in her heart for the maritime provinces of Canada, especially Prince Edward Island. She and her sister bought a house in Rustico, PEI where she obtained her Canadian Nursing License to work summers in Pediatrics and Mother and Baby at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI. The old island home was beautifully restored by Nadine, her sister and daughter as well as countless other friends and family – creating a family home for many wonderful summers!

Nadine was a member of St. Anne-St. Patrick Parish in Fiskdale, MA, serving as a religious education teacher and Eucharistic Minister. She loved movies, reading, visiting wineries and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her daughter and traveling with her and her sister.

A funeral Mass for Nadine will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4th, at 10:00am in St. Anne Church, 16 Church St., Fiskdale, MA. Burial St. George Cemetery, Southbridge, will be private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Catholic Academy (to either the Playground Fund or the General Funds),11 Pine St., Southbridge, MA 01550 or to Pernet Family Health Services, 237 Millbury St., Worcester, MA 01610.
