Mrs. Townes was born April 12, 1934, in Whiteville, Ohio to the late, Don Franklin and Elizabeth Herrin Phillips. She owned and operated convenience stores including Blue Bell in North Augusta. Mrs. Townes loved gambling and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Paige and Joe Paige; two sisters, Inez Dallas and Vonnie Crawford; a Sister-in-law, Julane Shaw; her daughter, Toni Black and her grandson, James Weeks.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Frank A. Townes, Jr; daughter, Barbara Watson; grandchildren, Larry Weeks (Carolyn), Angela Walrath and Chris Garrett (Mary); great-grandchildren, Timothy Futral (Darian), Seth Futral (Emily), Summer Garrett, Austin Weeks and Bryson Weeks; great-great-granddaughter, Mckinleigh Futral; a sister, Mabel McDaniels and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Hamilton and Lavina Fletcher.
