Nadis Rushing peacefully departed this life and entered her eternal rest in the Kingdom of Heaven on

August 11, 2025. Affectionately known as "Nanie" by her beloved eldest grandchild, Nadis was a

woman of strength, spirit, and unwavering determination. She lived a life full of love and dedication to

her family.

Born on August 29, 1930, in Edinburg, Mississippi, Nadis was the eldest of five daughters born to V.C.

and Hattie Beckham. From an early age, she displayed a passion for life and a competitive spirit,

excelling on the basketball court-where she caught the eye of a young Billy Max Rushing. The two

were married on June 25, 1949, and shared 33 wonderful years together before his passing in 1982.

Their union was blessed with three children: Wanda, Vicki, and Randy.

Nadis was a woman of many talents. She was a gifted master gardener, a skilled seamstress, an

exceptional cook, and was just as comfortable handling a fishing pole or a shotgun as she was in the

kitchen. Her resourcefulness and resilience were evident in every season of her life.

After raising her children, Nadis returned to school and earned her Cosmetology License from East

Central Community College.

Throughout her later years, Nadis found joy in traveling and exploring the beauty of the United States

and Canada. Her journeys took her to the Grand Canyon, the Tetons, Key West, Maine, California,

Niagara Falls, Washington D.C., and beyond. On one memorable trip, she even had the pleasure of

meeting the gracious Fess Parker, famed for his portrayal of Daniel Boone.

She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church and lived her life guided by faith,

kindness, and perseverance.

Nadis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Max Rushing; her parents, V.C. and Hattie

Beckham; and her sisters, Maurice Cross, Ollie Gross, and Mavis McDonald.

She is survived by her loving children: Wanda (Jack) Lancaster, Vicki Thomas, and Randy (LeaAnn)

Rushing; eight cherished grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister, Hilda Smith, along

with nieces, nephews and cousins. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the love she

shared.

The Rushing family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of Madison Home

Place for their dedicated care. A special expression of gratitude is given to Chansity Bell for her

exceptional and loving service.

Nadis Rushing will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration.
