NaKeya Lynna Vicks

NaKeya Lynna "Kia" Vicks was born on October 13, 1982, to Robert L. Vicks and Annette M. Machado in New Orleans LA. Kia was baptized at New St. Matthew Church by the late Rev. Johnson. She attended Mt. Moriah Church under the leadership of Pastor C. Grayson. She was granted her wings on June 9, 2025, in New Orleans, LA surrounded by family and friends. Kia graduated from Marion Abramson High School in May 2001 and attended Sidney Collier Culinary School in New Orleans. She was employed at Office Depot as a stock clerk, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel as a banquet server. Her favorite color was pink, and she enjoyed cooking and eating great food. She was fun, outgoing, loving and a "WONDERFUL" mother and daughter. Nakeya "Kia" Vicks was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Wiliam Sr., and Jessie L. Price, paternal grandmother Mary L. Vicks, one brother: Brandon Price, two uncles: William Price Jr. and Glen Vicks. She leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter Jamaira S. Jackson, her mother Annette Machado, one brother: Danzel R. Vicks, Aunts: Linda Williams (Carl Barnes), Shantell (John) Dickerson, and Lisa Vicks, Uncles: Anthony (Aisha) Price, and Kornell Price, stepparents; Colletto Vicks and Anthony Dowell, godmother; Aletha Cusher, cousins: Olajuwon, Kennette, Lisa, Antoinette, Jessica, Antea, Erika, Tamyria, Arshad, Eddie, Lil William, Aneka, Isis, Kornell Jr., John III, and Jonas. Along with a host of other family members. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, June 21, 2025, for 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Church, 2407 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation will begin at 9:45 a.m. Pastor Cyril Grayson, officiating. Interment is private.
