~ Family Tribute ~

Nancy Lou Brooks was born on May 19, 1936 in Ferndale, Michigan, to June and Douglas Souter.

She was joined five years later by her little sister, Sandra. She graduated in June of 1954 from Lincoln High School, where she was involved in clubs and a helpful classmate as a "Hall Guide". Married William Herman Brooks the following year on April 2, 1955 by Pastor Eugene Clark at Grace Baptist Church. She spent 5 years working for the department store, Hudson's and a few other jobs, but then spent a great deal of her life dedicated and serving as a wife to William and mother to five boys.

Nancy was a lover of "all creatures great and small", always having furry companions at home. She shared her love for crocheting and her Scottish family's shortbread. She was faithful to attending church services at Gethsemane Baptist Church and some years with Twelve Ryan Missionary Baptist Church. Her bible verse she often quoted is, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

I pray that God continues to bless the Brooks family in this time of sorrow. Nancy Brooks, or Ma as I called her was beautiful inside and out. The true definition of a God fearing woman. I love her and will greatly miss her and her beautiful smile.

On behalf of the Timmerman family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Brooks family. Mrs. Brooks was more than a friend to us - she was like a mother to my dad, my mom, me and all of my siblings. She showed our family love, warmth, and genuine friendship. She lived with her faith in Christ and with a grace that touched everyone around her.

Her life was a beautiful example of Christian love, devotion, and kindness. She blessed us in countless ways and always made us feel as though we were part of her own family. Our hearts are deeply saddened by her passing, yet we hold tightly to Gods promise of us all being reunited again in heaven.

May God´s comfort and peace be with you during this difficult time.

Love in Christ,
George Timmerman III
