Nancy Jean Carter

Funeral services for Nancy Jean Carter, age 78 of Lindale, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Bro. Mike Coyne officiating. Interment will follow at Lindale City Cemetery. Nancy passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Tyler. She was born June 11, 1947, in Mineola to the late Manuel Eugene and Lillie Cornelia (Wren) Smith. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Lindale where she was a member of the South Main Church of Christ and worked for Lindale ISD in the cafeteria. She then worked for many years and retired from Black Sheep Sewing Company in Tyler. While there she worked as a Seamstress and then became Quality Control and Screenprint Supervisor. After retirement Nancy then worked for Allstate Insurance in Lindale. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, collecting antique ceramic shoe figurines, and was known as her family's historian having many pictures and stories to share. She was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Edward Caston and Frankie Paul Carter and her brother, Jim Armstrong. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Susie Perryman and husband, Jimmy of Red Springs; brother, Leonard A. Smith and wife, Judy of Lindale; grandchildren, Monica and Carter Perryman; great grandson, Nathan Dool II; and numerous other loving family members and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Stacy Hukill, William Simmons, Andrew Hudson, David Bowen, Jonathan Pollard, and Homero Aparicio. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
