Nancy Jane Cox of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on March 6, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Helen and Elliot ("Swede") Jensen, Nancy lived a full and generous life defined by devotion to her family, faith, creativity, and quiet acts of care. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Webb Yarrington, who passed away in 1970, and by her beloved husband, Forrest Cox, who passed in 2023.

Nancy is survived by her children, Darcy (Roger) Kincade and David (Kristina) Yarrington; her stepchildren-Curt, Kim, and Tina Cox; her grandchildren, Kayla (Kincade) Hill and Kameron Kincade, Toby and Maia Yarrington, and Corey Cox, Erin (Cox) McQuarters, and Lauren Cox; and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Asher, and Preston Hill, Thea Kincade, and Calvin Cox-all of whom brought her endless pride and joy.

Nancy attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where she earned her degree in fine arts. A proud CU Buff and Pi Beta Phi alumna, she carried a love of learning and community throughout her life.

Nancy's life was centered on family and community. She was steadfastly present-attending her children's and grandchildren's games, recitals, and celebrations, always cheering the loudest. She found joy in being active-whether golfing, swimming (including synchronized swimming in her youth), or cheering on her favorite teams. Her home was the heart of many family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where she hosted meals filled with warmth, laughter, and her signature thoughtfulness.

A woman of keen curiosity and generosity, Nancy was known for cutting out newspaper articles to share with friends and family whenever something reminded her of their interests-a simple but enduring expression of how deeply and thoughtfully she cared for others.

She also carried a deep love for the arts and was herself a gifted painter, following in the artistic footsteps of her grandfather, George Jensen. Her work reflected her eye for beauty and her appreciation for the small, meaningful details of life.

Nancy's faith was an enduring part of her life. She was an active and beloved member of Wellspring Church, where her Bible was well-worn from study and reflection, and where she found deep friendship and laughter among the "Boomers" group. She also served for many years with Community Bible Study (CBS), helping lead and teach others in their faith journeys. Her heart for mission led her abroad as part of the team that helped establish CBS in Sweden-an experience that reflected both her adventurous spirit and her commitment to sharing God's love. Her faith gave her peace, purpose, and belonging-guiding her throughout her life and sustaining her in her later years.

Nancy's presence was a constant source of comfort and steadiness to those who loved her. She will be remembered for her generosity, her creative spirit, her deep faith, and the grace with which she moved through the world.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held Monday, November 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at Spirit of Hope (4300 S. Lincoln St., Englewood, CO 80113). In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory with donations to Wellspring Church-or simply by sharing a story, creating something beautiful, or extending a small kindness in her name, just as she did so often for others.
