It is with profound sadness and boundless love that we announce the passing of Nancy Ann D'Auria, a beloved grammy, mother, sister, and friend, who left us on March 8, 2025 at the age of 74.
Nancy was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, to Tom and Sue Mahoney and was the oldest of eight children. She graduated at the top of her class from Nyack High School and chose to pursue a career in nursing, which allowed her compassion and grace to touch the lives of many.
She shared this compassion in her work as a Supervisor at Nyack Hospital's ER/ICU and later as a Director of Nursing in the halls of River Spring Health. In addition to her dedication to nursing, Nancy developed her love of cooking and her passion for gardening. No one made a more beautiful charcuterie board or had a more lush garden filled with herbs.
She joyfully lived a life in service of others. She cared about the smallest details and delighted in showing her love through quality time with those she loved. A natural educator, she taught nursing for a time and was a mentor to those across her field.
Nancy is survived by her beloved children, Susan Ergun (Cagatay Ergun), Patrick D'Auria (Mara D'Auria), Jeffrey D'Auria (Brittany Jackson), Katie D'Auria, and Christopher Donato (Erica Donato), and her 10 cherished grandchildren, Aidan Ergun, Ollie Ergun, Paddy D'Auria, Madeline D'Auria, Jack D'Auria, Scarletta D'Auria, Josie Heller, Loui Heller, Lucas Donato, and Carrie Donato.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings Kathy Brooke (Todd Brooke), Maureen Barraclough (Bruce Barraclough), Thomas Mahoney (Sharon Mahoney), Daniel Mahoney (Kris Mahoney), Kevin Mahoney (Betty Mahoney), and Megan Chill (Arthur Chill), and former husband Pat D'Auria, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends – all of whom she cared for like her own.
She is predeceased by her parents and her sister Ellen Donato.
Nancy's legacy will be her love of family gatherings and being together. She had a joy for hosting and feeding those who were lucky enough to sit at her table. Nancy will be remembered most during the small joys of life; every time we eat a delicious meal, celebrate St. Patrick's Day, feel the sun shining upon our faces, or see the first bloom of a flower.
The family will be receiving visitors and celebrating Nancy's life at the Carolina Beach Pier on March 29, 2025 from 12-4pm with a eulogy scheduled for 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's memory to Nourish NC (
), or A Safe Place Women's Shelter (
).
Please leave memories and condolences for Nancy's family under the "Tribute Wall".
