Nancy Dowd

Our beloved Mother passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in her 95th year at Sherwood Park Manor, with her children at her side. Born Anne Veronica Moore on Feb. 22, 1929 to Anne (Brady) Moore and William Moore in Liverpool, England. She was the 5th child of nine.
She married Thomas Dowd on June 28, 1952. The family emigrated to Canada in 1967, arriving in Montreal on The Empress of England ship. Greeted by her brother Harry (Sonny) Moore, they settled in Brockville taking positions in Black & Decker. Family, Friends and Faith meant everything to Mom, she kept in touch with her homeland and visited almost every other year, with the family returning visits to Canada to be shown this beautiful country by Nancy and Tom. Her Faith was steadfast to the end. Her devotion to God gave her the strength she needed in times when she felt alone.
She lived her life with selfless love, gratitude and worship. Mom is survived by her children Joyce (Joe) Farella and Andrew (Erica) Dowd, her 5 granddaughters who she treasured, Jessica (Dan) Farella, Jillian (Austin) Farella, Jackie (Zack) Wellman, Jennifer (Damien) Johnson and Annie Dowd (Sam). Her 4 great-grandchildren, Demi Farella, Westin and Chase Wellman and Jasper Johnson. Her sister in Liverpool, Rita (Brian) Purvis and many special nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Dowd, of 70 years, her brothers and sisters, Charles, Mary, Kathleen, Eileen, Harry, Noel and Philip.
Private family arrangements have been entrusted to Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St. E., Brockville.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Brockville General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care, a charity that Mom supported yearly, will be greatly acknowledged. A very special thank you to Sherwood Park Manor for taking such loving kind care of Mom. She loved you all.
