Nancy Easter Obituary
February 1, 1939 - June 28, 2023
Nancy Smith Easter, 84 entered heaven Wednesday June 28, 2023, after a brief stay at The Hospice Home at High point. She was born February 01, 1939, in Greensboro to the late Garland and Gertrude ward Smith. In addition to her parents Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Earl Hampton "Bub" Easter.
Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and roller skating rink owner/operator. As a little girl, Nancy loved to dance and always wanted to be a Rockette. Then she found her love for roller skating as a young woman at the Hawkins Skating Rink in the 1950s. After working at other local skating rinks and marrying Bub Easter, Nancy, Bub and her son Andy along with other rink owners started Skateland of Greensboro. From the day the doors opened she had found her happy place. For the next 49 years, she brought joy, laughter and support to all who entered her world. Her other love was her family. She had so many adventures with them but her greatest joy was watching her children and later her grandchildren skating at nationals. She lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. Nancy was a mother and grandmother to countless people. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory include her Son Robert A. Hawkins III & Marlene of Summerfield; daughter, Angela Hawkins Kidd of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren Kristina Kidd Griffin & Carlton, Savannah Kidd Wyble & Brandon, Adam Brice Hawkins & Celeste Huston, Daniel Anderson Hawkins & Skylar, Jenna Michelle McKay & Matthew; three great grandchildren Beckett James Wyble, Callum Archer Hawkins, Baby Griffin (coming soon); Step-Children Ricky Easter, Steve Easter and Melanie Lowery.
A funeral service will be held 12:30 PM Saturday July 01, 2023, at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service 1118 N. Elm St with Rev. Jonathan Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Westminster Gardens cemetery in Greensboro. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.

I could never think of Skateland and not think of Nancy. She was such a hard worker. My girls first jobs were in the snack bar there. We still take our grandson. Peace to the family.

We enjoyed Nancy's acquaintance for the brief time she was our townhome neighbor. She was a delightful lady with a sly sense of humor. Rest in peace Nancy!

Andy I´m so sorry for your loss. I remember Mrs. Nancy at the skating rink. What a wonderful place to grow up skating at and loved the Christian Music Nights. My prayers are with the family.
