Mrs. Joan Carolyn Sparks Easter, age 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mrs. Easter was born in Grayson County, Virginia, March 8, 1942, to the late Boyd James Sparks and Magnolia Payne Sparks. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Easter worked as a CNA at Northern Regional Hospital for over 17 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Skyview Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband of 64 years, Kenneth Wade Easter, Sr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Stanley and Charlie, Teresa Dickens and Kenneth; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth “Ken” Wade Easter, Jr. and Claire; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Rippey; brother, James S. Sparks; sisters-in-law, Mabelene Beverly, Mary Katherine Easter; aunt, Mamie Sawyers; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Emily Dawn Cook; brothers-in-law, Calvin Weldon Easter, Clifford Rippey, Don Beverly; mother and father-in-law, Ovella Easter and Clifton; infant sister-in-law, Annabelle. A funeral service to honor Mrs. Easter life will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Skyview Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Gary Horton, Rev. Wendell Horton, and Charlie Stanley officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Skyview Missionary Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Skyview Missionary Baptist Church 129 Skyview Drive, Fancy Gap, Virigina 24328.
