Nancy Alane Fisher

Nancy Alane Fisher, of Davidson, NC and formerly of Erie, PA joined Jesus while at home with family, after a year-long struggle with severe medical issues.
Born in Erie, PA on July 13, 1949 to the late Carl Lewis Hanson and Virginia Waldmann Hanson, Nancy lived in Erie until her marriage to her husband Ken Fisher on June 21, 1969. In 1970 they relocated to Indiana and then Ohio during their early marriage. Returning to Erie in 1972, they remained until their retirement in 2010 when they moved to North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister Marilyn (Hanson) Fisher, brother Gary Hanson, and son-in-law, Charles ("Chip") Johnston. Nancy is survived by the love of her life, Kenneth James Fisher, whom she was with from the age of 16 years old - when she asked him to a bowling party with her
church's youth group. The love they shared through their 56 years of marriage was a true example of devotion. Ken and Nancy holding hands, embracing each other, constantly together both throughout life and through this difficult season.
Nancy leaves behind three daughters, Julie Johnston of Luang Prabang, Laos, Shelly Hull (Kenneth Hull) of Huntersville, NC, and Katie Fisher of Sanford, NC as well as her grandchildren Rachel Cinelli (Gianni Cinelli), Aaron Hull, Summer Hull, Jeremiah Hull, Cameron Kline, Kani Kline, and Carly Kline and bonus grandchildren, Betty Little and Jomar Deterline, who likewise knew her as Nana.
Nancy remains a child of God and a sister in Christ with all who believe in Him as their Lord and Savior. Much of her life was impacted by medical issues yet she remained true to her faith by being devoted to loving, sharing, and praying for her family and the needs of others. This was evidenced by her recognizing the good and hard things in other people's lives - often by sending a card and also evidenced in her very detailed extensive daily prayer list. She always wanted to be a good neighbor. She welcomed new neighbors with a plate of cookies and baked one large cookie for the neighborhood kids on their birthdays. She enjoyed cross stitching and giving away her
creations. An avid reader, she read anything by Laura Ingalls Wilder and had the fortune of visiting most of the homesteads during several cross country trips. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the US to national parks and to many key cities during the lively festive months of the holidays.
Nancy was very open and liked to laugh and joke around. She also loved music and singing. She sang with a women's choral group at senior facilities during the holidays, enjoyed the worship at her church, and was noted to suddenly, jokingly belt out a few notes of a song which nearly led to a heart attack for those around her. One such outburst was a spontaneous, "I'm a child of God, yes I am," which described what was most important in her life. Coming from the lyrics of the song Who You Say I Am (Hillsong), it describes what she knew to be true:
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God, yes I am.
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God, yes I am!

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Via Health Partners - Charlotte hospice care, your local church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC beginning with a visitation at 2:00 PM followed immediately by a funeral service at 4:00 PM. A private interment will be held at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Erie, PA.
