Nancy Genardo

Nancy Genardo, age 69, passed away on November 19, 2025. Beloved sister of Patricia Genardo, devoted daughter of the late Leonard and Dorothea Genardo.

Nancy devoted her life to helping others. She decided early on that she wanted to be a nurse and care for the sick. She started as a Candy Striper at Resurrection Hospital, then a nurse's aide, then a registered nurse. She worked at Resurrection Hospital, then Northwestern Hospital and then DuPage Convalescent Center. She was an RN for 35 years and took care of many sick relatives and friends over the years.

Nancy went on for a Master's Degree in Gerontology at Northeastern Illinois University. Nancy was very active in her community and church, St. Scholastica.. She was involved in Hospitality Sunday, Parish Picnics, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Club and Council of Catholic Women in which she held office of treasurer and was voted CCW Women Of the Year. In the community Nancy was a member of the Lions Club of Woodridge, Morton Arboretum Perennial Partners, team member and captain of American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, team member, team captain and planning committee member of American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. For fun Nancy belonged to a Red Hat Society chapter.

Nancy had hobbies too. She loved to cook, bake, knit, and do photography. Her latest project was working on the family genealogy – both sides (Mom & Dad). She devoted many hours to that. Nancy and her sister loved to travel as well. They visited over 97 countries, but there was no place like home.

Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her. Family and Friends will gather for a Memorial Mass at St. Scholastica Church, 7800 Janes Ave., Woodridge, IL on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10:00 am. Mass will be followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL.
