MEREDITH ---- Nancy Carolyn (Cashen) Hart went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was surrounded by her family singing her favorite hymns bedside, ushering her into the embrace of her heavenly home. Nancy found her greatest joy in her family and serving God. She loved being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Upon having her first grandchild Alysha, from that point on, she was forever known as Nana to all.
She was born November 5th in Quincy, MA, the only child and daughter of Roy and Mildred (McNeil) Cashen. Nancy dated Joseph Hart, both graduates of North Quincy High School class of 1950. After Joe's return from the Navy, they were married at the Old Scotch Presbyterian Church in Boston, MA with over 500 people in attendance. Together, they built a beautiful Christian life as a devoted and inseparable couple celebrating 70 years of marriage.
Her first job after high school was working at Quincy City Hall in Quincy MA in the Purchasing Department where she continued to work until she became a mom to her four children.
During their married years they had two family homes they built together filled with love. Their first in Quincy, MA where they raised their family. The second in Moultonborough, NH as their love of Lake Winnipesaukee and Long Island Beach, became not only their retirement dream but also a reality. Later, their final retirement place was a home at Meredith Bay Village Community Association.
Nana lived a life of profound faith, love, and devotion to her family. She loved family gatherings at her home while playing games and laughing around the table. She led her children and grandchildren to their own faith in Jesus by teaching them God's ways through her wisdom, character, and prayers. Her unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every step.
Nana was kind, nurturing and had an abundance of hospitality to whoever entered their home. No one could leave without one of Nana's baked goodies in their hands. Nana's faith and dedication to her Lord and Savior influenced her life from her teenage years, when she dedicated her life at a Billy Graham Crusade in Boston, until her final days. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths." Nana was a prayer warrior like no other and her faith penetrated through every conversation and encounter with everyone she met. She loved everyone as if they were her own family and added each to her daily prayer list in a notebook that she brought with her wherever she went. She had countless prayer books after many years of journaling prayer requests. This brought her much joy, along with her cross ministry, where she would pass out her small wooden crosses to those she met and would pray for them with her heartfelt and faith-filled words. The legacy she leaves is one of constant love, grace, generosity, and compassion as a blessing to her family and all who knew her.
As a family, we would like to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation for all the loving care and support from Lakes Region Visiting Nurses especially Betsy, Abbey, Cindy, Shannon, Casey, Katie, Brooke, Katherine and Annie.
She is now reunited in heaven with her parents and many Christian friends that passed before her. Nancy is survived by her loving husband Joseph (Papa), as well as her grateful four children; Roy Hart and his wife Kelly of Sandwich, MA, Brad Hart of Sandwich, MA, Melissa Torressen and her husband Gary of Moultonborough, NH, and Lesley Daigneau and her husband Andy of Belmont, NH along with her six grandchildren Abbey (and her husband Jesse) Ball, Sam Hart, Christian (and his wife Della) Hart, Alysha Torressen, Andrew (and his wife Brielle) Torressen, and Leanne Daigneau, as well as 2 great-grandchildren Madi Hart and Revere Torressen, and another baby Torressen expected to arrive in April.
There will be no calling hours.
As requested by Nana, a half hour hymn sing will take place, Monday, September 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Calvary Bible Church, 6 St. James Street, Meredith, NH. If you are able to join in the singing, you are welcome.
Following the hymn sing, at 10:30 AM there will be a Celebration of Life Service, also at Calvary Bible Church, 6 St. James Street, Meredith, NH.

Earlier today

So sorry for your loss. I have lots memories of Nancy from First Presbyterian Church in Quincy. She always had a smile to share and her kind soft spoken voice lit up the room. May you rejoice in each memory and bring a smile even if it is only for a few moments. Keeping all of you close in prayer
