Nancy Elaine Hartis, age 86, of Bear, Delaware, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Ethel Mills.
Nancy was a proud graduate of William Penn High School, Class of 1956. She worked for the Speakman Company in Wilmington and later retired from NVF.
Affectionately known as "Mawh" and "Mom-Mom," Nancy was the heart of her family. She had a deep love for dancing, reading, telling cherished stories from her past, celebrating Christmas, playing games, and-most of all-spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Richard T. Foraker (Terri) and Brian K. Foraker Sr. (Margaret); her two nieces and two nephews; ten grandchildren: Kristen, Brian Jr., Steven (Adely), Derrick, Matthew, Laci, Maggie, Crystal, Chuck, and Charlene; and six great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Sophia, Charlie, Aiden, McKenna and Chase.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Robert Hartis Jr., and her sons, Earl "Butch" Winfield Foraker III and Daniel Lee Foraker.
Nancy will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
