Nancy "Nanny" Haynes WATERLOO - Nancy Henry "Nanny" Haynes, 85, formerly of 15 Tuscany Drive, widow of Gloyd Leo Payne, died Friday, July 10, 2015 at NHC - Greenwood. Born in Fountain Inn, she was a daughter of the late Dalton and Zelma Gwin Henry. Nancy retired from Monsanto and was a member of Bethlehem Union Church where she was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class and a former teacher. Nanny enjoyed gardening, loved children and was a foster parent for more than 40 children. Our angel has gone to heaven and is rejoicing with her loved ones and will be missed very much. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Payne and a daughter, Beverly Payne. Surviving are two daughters, Vickie McDowell (Sam) and Cathy Hamby (Ronald), both of Greenwood; a son, Bo Layer of Hawaii; a sister, Gwen Orrell of Arkansas; a brother, Harold Henry of Edgefield; six grandchildren, Dale Hamby (Annette) of Waterloo, Adrienne Anderson (Kris) of Myrtle Beach, Colby Payne of Colorado, Eric McDowell (Emily) Athens, GA, Steven McDowell of Charleston, and Jay Rollins (Bird) of Easley; a special great-granddaughter, Alex McDowell of Columbia; two great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Bethlehem Union Church with the Rev. Bobby Davis and the Rev. Michael Clary officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be James Nix, Tim May, Jason Bagwell, Patrick Baumgardner, Stephen Miller and Bart McGuire. Honorary escort will be Reese and Jessie, her great-great grandsons and the deacons of Bethlehem Union Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Harley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Union Church Building Fund, 4628 Riverfork Rd, Waterloo, SC 29384. The family is at the home of her daughter, Vickie McDowell, 208 Morrow Road, Greenwood. Harley Funeral Home and Crematory ( www.harleyfuneralhome.com ) is in charge of the arrangements.
