Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Leary Funeral Home Ltd. on Jan. 29, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Nancy Marie Houck (née Guyon). Nancy passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at Paoli Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. She was 81 years old.
Nancy was born on October 10, 1943, in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Anna and Paul Guyon. She grew up with a compassionate heart, a lively spirit, and an unwavering love for life-a love she carried with her throughout her years.
Nancy was married to the late Brian Houck Sr., her partner in life and love, until his passing in 2019. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and resilience. She leaves behind five children who adored her: Lisa Hazlett, Rich Essaf, Nicole Houck Dean, Brian Houck Jr., and Renee Houck Cheng. She was a devoted grandmother to Eric Hazlett, Kris Hazlett, Carter Essaf, Kyle Essaf, Michael Dean, Taylor Dean, Myah Houck, Mathew Cheng, Lauren Cheng, Caleb Cheng, Joel Cheng, and Caleigh Cheng, as well as a proud great-grandmother to Keira Hazlett, Scarlett Cheng, Bella Cheng, and Avery Todd. Nancy's love for her family was boundless, and they were her greatest source of pride and joy.
Nancy lived a life full of heart and generosity. She always put the needs of others before her own and gave of herself in ways that touched everyone who knew her. Whether it was her warm smile, her kind words, or her selfless acts, Nancy had a way of making people feel loved and cared for.
She was a woman of many passions. Nancy danced her way into history at Woodstock, a memory that reflected her free spirit and zest for life. She found beauty in the simplest moments, from crocheting intricate creations with her hands to caring deeply for animals, a cause that was close to her heart. Her love for her dogs and her commitment to animal welfare spoke volumes about her compassionate nature. Nancy's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be remembered as a woman who gave so much more than she ever received, who made sacrifices without hesitation, and who showed her family the true meaning of unconditional love.
Family and friends are invited to come together to honor the life of a truly remarkable woman at her Visitation Monday, February 3, 2025 10am, O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd.
Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Service 11am in the Funeral Home. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an animal welfare organization in her memory, a tribute to Nancy's lifelong dedication to animals and their care.
Nancy touched the lives of everyone she met, and her absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit, her love, and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
