LAKE SHAWNEE – Nancy Diane Howerton, 69, of Lake Shawnee went to be with Jesus after a long-extended illness on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Born November 16, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Louis Pugalee and Margie Ruth "Boots" O'Dell Pugalee.
Nancy was a homemaker and loved the Lord. For many years, she taught Sunday School at the former Clark's Gap Church of God. She had nightly devotions and prayer with her children when they were young. Her favorite past-times were spending time with her dog, Snookie, taking him on long walks, and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ernest "Ernie" Howerton; four brothers, Jackie Pugalee, Ricky Pugalee, Chuckie Pugalee, and Jerry Pugalee; and infant sister, Connie Pugalee
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Randy "Boo-Boo" Howerton and wife Katrina of Matoaka; two daughters, Marie "Tweets" Shrewsbury and husband Eric of Lashmeet, and Shelly "Put-Put" Lowery and husband Teddy of Lashmeet; two sisters, Darlene Wilson of Tallahassee, FL, and Pat Harmon of NC; brother, David Pugalee of NC; sister-in-law, Cheral Pugalee of Lashmeet; grandchildren, Randy, Jr., Allison, David, Kayla, Jr., and Hannah; step grandchildren, Brooke and T.J.; 14 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Carol Bailey of Athens.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Bailey Miller Cemetery at Clarks Gap.
