Nancy Aleta Sargent Kosine (75) passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2024. Born on April 20, 1948, to Burton and Brooxie Sargent in Sheridan, WY, she was the oldest of four children. Nancy's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Nancy graduated from Sheridan High School in 1966 and later attended Sheridan College. In 1969, Nancy met the love of her life, Bob Kosine, whom she married in 1971. Together, they shared a love for dancing, the mountains, camping, polka music, and cherished moments with family and friends. Nancy's infectious laugh and sense of humor created a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone around her. Bob and Nancy hosted a number of bar-b-ques and Christmas parties over the years, as Nancy deeply loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them.
Nancy worked at Sheridan Memorial Hospital for over 40 years, serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant and ward secretary. Her favorite area was OB, where she got to work with the newborn babies. In the last 20+ years, she worked in both the ER and ICU. Nancy gave the best of care to all the patients she took care of over her career, and she treated everyone with kindness and respect. She always had the attitude that you never know if someone is 'Jesus in disguise'.
Nancy found joy in gardening, flowers, camping, and crafting. She loved spending time in the Big Horn Mountains, going for 4-wheeler rides and looking at the wildflowers. She also loved spending time building her dollhouses and miniature furniture. She will always be remembered for her beautiful flower gardens, especially her peonies, irises, and hostas.
Her retirement years were marked by volunteering at the Holy Name Thrift Store and being part of Akcita Win, a ladies group that raised funds for nursing student scholarships at Sheridan College. Baking for bake sales and spending time with her friends were some of her fondest memories.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Brooxie Sargent, brother-in-laws Henry Kosine and Dan George, and sister-in-laws Arlene (Bill) Barbula and Betty (Bill) Arzy. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bob, son Brandon (Ted), grandson Callaway, sisters Gail (Tony) Bemetz and Bonnie Sargent, brother Bill (Tammy) Sargent, and in-laws Linda George, Sue Kosine, Sharon (John) Mooney, Karen (Richard) Legerski, David (Linda) Kosine, and Joe (Daisy) Kosine along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Big Horns, 1401 5th St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
Rosary will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 10:30 am at Holy Name Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 am with Father Glenn Whewell officiating followed by a reception. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
