Nancy Lansing Obituary

Lansing, Nancy G. EAST SCHODACK Nancy G. Lansing 73, of East Schodack, passed after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She fought with determination and bravery and only in the final weeks did she wish to be at peace. On June 25, 2022, that wish was granted. Nancy was born to James Goold and Josephine Goold of Castleton. She grew up there and graduated from Maple Hill High School in Castleton and was soon employed by the State of New York as a secretary, a position she held until becoming a mother. When Nancy returned to work, it was as a librarian assistant at the Algonquin Middle School in Averill Park, and then within a couple of years, she was employed full time by the New York State Thruway Authority, where she worked until her retirement. Nancy retired from the Thruway Authority in 2009. Always very active Nancy loved walking, exercise classes at the YMCA, motorcycling with her husband, canoeing, skiing and especially gardening, she was the president of the Troy Garden Club before her illness. She spent many hours training her labrador retriever, Henry, as a certified therapy dog, with whom she visited nursing homes and special education classes. She loved vacationing with her family in Maine each summer because what made her happiest was time spent with her family Nancy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Lansing; and her children, (from a previous marriage to Theodore Maychack), Daniel Maychack (Kelly Virkler), Michael Maychack (Michele Maychack), and Stephanie Maychack (Barb Weinberg). In addition, she is survived by her brother, James Goold (Margaret); her sister, Betsy Goold Pessetto, (pre-deceased by brother-in-law, Eugene Pessetto); her grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Madyn, and Blake; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Wednesday from 4-6:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 6:30 p.m. at the Wm. J.
