Nancy J. Larson, age 82, of Yorkville, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at her home. She was born on October 22, 1942 in Long Beach, CA, the daughter of Olen and Kathleen (Jones) Bennett. Nancy was united in marriage on October 2, 1965 to Terry L. Larson and they spent the next 45 years happily together until his passing on May 17, 2011. After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a bachelors of science in nursing, she worked as a public health nurse and helped to establish the Kendall County Health Department. Nancy also earned her teaching degree and taught special reading in the Yorkville School District and 5th grade at Lisbon Grade School for 19 years. Nancy was the director of The Kilts Foundation since 2006. Guided by unwavering faith, Nancy was a devoted servant of God and an active member of The Newark Lutheran Church in Newark, IL. She inspired others with her kindness and generosity. She enjoyed spending her time knitting, reading, and doing hardanger embroidery with friends. Nancy was a longtime member of the Friends of the Library at The Charles B. Phillips Library in Newark and a dedicated participant in P.E.O. Chapter FO. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Roger) Shinnerl, Kristen (Eric) Flanders; her grandchildren, Alex, Andy (Kaetlyn) and Abigail Shinnerl, and Matthew, Tyler and Katy Flanders and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Larson) McDonald. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Kathleen Bennett; and her husband, Terry L. Larson. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, Illinois A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Newark Lutheran Church, 101 East Liberty Street, Newark, IL. Burial will follow at the Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL. In Nancy's memory, memorials can be sent to The Newark Lutheran Church, The Charles B. Phillips Library, or Samaritan's Purse. John and I both remember Nancy well. Nancy and John also attended grade school together. All three of us went to Lewistown High School and were in the same graduating class.

This year will be our 65th class reunion and sadly our dear Nancy will not be with us but will be there in "spirit".

I remember Nancy giving me a perm in her kitchen sink. I also Remember seeing our cheerleader uniforms at her house. We also drove to Bloomington to watch the Norsemen play a few years ago! She was a kind and thought ful and funny woman. I´m so blessed to have known her!
