Nancy Leavitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services - Alameda on Jan. 7, 2026.
Nancy Dianne Leavitt March 1, 1939 – December 20, 2025
Nancy Dianne Leavitt passed away on December 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, community, and generosity.
Born Nancy Dianne Lipka, she was a proud graduate of Alameda High School, Class of 1957, and later earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. She married the love of her life, John Julian Leavitt, whom she met while they were students at Cal. Together, they built their life in Alameda and raised three children: John (Danielle Leavitt), Curtis (Kelli Kennaday), and Kirsten (Christopher Trapani).
For over 30 years, Nancy was the heart of Park Street as the owner of Card-N-Quill, where her shop became a beloved gathering place for friends and neighbors. Deeply devoted to her community, Nancy served on the Park Street Business Association, was a proud member of Soroptimist, worshiped faithfully at Trinity Lutheran Church, volunteered as a Bluebird and Camp Fire leader, member of Alameda Welfare Council and was an active member of the Encinal Yacht Club.
Nancy loved reading, playing bridge, and spending time on the Truckee River in Tahoe. Above all, she cherished her family. Her "seven wonders of the world" were her grandchildren: Brittany, Courtney (Jake Hohloch), Gabriella (Gavin Hoffmann), Anthony, John, Rocco, and Scottie. She was also delighted to welcome her great-granddaughter, Juliette, born this past year.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Elkin and Ethel Lipka; and her sister, Sharon Miller. Harry Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745)'
A friend to all and a pillar of her community, Nancy was deeply loved by her family, dear friends-especially her beloved "Walkie Talkies"-and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and always cherished.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1323 Central Avenue, Alameda, California, on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Harry Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745)

Mormor, I was lucky to spend seven years with you and you always made me feel like part of the family. I feel beyond blessed to have married your granddaughter, Gabriella. Christmas Eve at your house became one of my favorite traditions, and I´ll always appreciate how welcoming and generous you were.

I´ll especially cherish our time together at Rockwall and our trip to Healdsburg-what great memories I´ll always carry with me!! Thank you for treating me as your own, and I´m grateful to have known you.

Peaceful Reflections
