Obituary of Nancy Lewis

Nancy B. Lewis, 96, resident of Brightview on New Canaan, CT, formerly a longtime resident of Chapel Hill, NC passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025.

Nancy was born on April 9, 1929 in Wooster, OH to Myron and Marie Bachtell. Nancy grew up in Wooster and graduated from Wooster High School in 1947.

She received her bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster in 1951, where she met her husband, Wilbur "Web" Lewis and then went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Ohio State University in 1952. Many years later she returned to school to obtain her Masters degree in 1984 from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Nancy and Web moved often living in California, Ithaca, NY, Indianapolis, IN, Sydney, Australia, London, England, Darien, CT, before retiring in Chapel Hill, NC.

She spent many years researching and archiving the family history including tracing her lineage to the American Revolution after which she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Web and son Jim. She is survived his sons, David (Carolyn) of New Canaan, CT and Steve of Sunset Beach, NC, as well as her eight grandchildren, Mackenzie, Parker, Paige, Reid, and Campbell Lewis and Carolyn, Christopher, and Caleb Kussmaul and great-grandchild Hadley. Nancy will be dearly missed.
